At the September 9, 2008, special action meeting, the
Cherry Hill Board of Education approved the
2008 Special Education Self
Assessment Plan for submission to the Department of Education. The
self assessment process began in March with an open public meeting attended
by several hundred participants—parents, teachers, board members, administrators,
and interested community members. A steering committee was formed in April to
collect and analyze data, design the parent survey, and develop the continuous
improvement plan. The framework for addressing areas in need of improvement,
as identified in the
Continuous Improvement Plan, will include
the following:
special education procedures, professional development,
increased building-based oversight of special education programs, and workshops
for parents and
other community members.
